Interoperability Labs

Multi-Platform System Management Lab
This IVA lab represents an effort to implement a multi-platform system management solution across a heterogeneous network environment. It operates using Microsoft® System Center Operations Manager with Xandros Bridgeways to administer Sun Solaris 10 platforms running applications such as Oracle DataBase 10g and Oracle Application Express, as well as interoperating with other system management solutions such as IBM Tivoli and HP Openview

This lab was initiated in response to the feedback provided by the Interoperability Executive Customer Council (IEC Council). In particular, IEC Council member NATO commented the outcome of this lab more

Development Environment and Software Configuration Management (SCM) Interoperability Lab
For enterprises and developers, there are many possible choices for their IDE and SCM systems, which results in often having to deal with multiple heterogeneous IDE and SCM systems both within and across project teams. In this lab, we are testing an interoperability scenario between Microsoft Visual Studio 2008 IDE and CollabNet Subversion SCM through the use of AnkhSVN, a Subversion source control provider for Visual Studio. moreIVA Members:

Portal Aggregation and Integration Lab
Enterprises rely on portals to facilitate information-sharing and speed business processes. Portals provide a convenient, centralized way for workers to gain insight into the business and to collaborate on projects through a single point of entry, in the form of a Web-based user interface. In cooperation with other Interop Vendor Alliance (IVA) members and partners, Microsoft tested the integration capabilities between Office SharePoint Server 2007 and Java-based portals in real-world business scenarios at the Portal Aggregation and Integration Lab. moreIVA Members:

Document & Records Management Across Portals
The Interop Vendor Alliance (IVA) demonstrated the interoperability of portal document management solutions in this IVA lab. IVA members Meridio, Microsoft, Open Text, and Vorsite demonstrated software tools that can help improve the efficiency of your portals, connect data among different environments, and protect sensitive information; these solutions work together to make it possible for you to capture and manage valuable corporate knowledge, share it efficiently, and archive it. Each tool builds on the functionality of the others, providing you with an integrated solution that can outperform any individual solution. moreIVA Members:

Interoperability Lab with Open XML

In cooperation with IVA members and partners, Microsoft put Open XML to the test in real-world business scenarios at the IVA Open XML Interoperability Lab. Office Open XML (Open XML) is an international, open standard for word-processing documents, presentations, and spreadsheets that can be freely implemented by multiple applications on multiple platforms. more

Federated Identity Lab
Access to online information and services is critical for productivity in the workplace and at home; however, the complexity of managing an increasing number of digital identities presents unique challenges. These issues often frustrate potential users, and do not sufficiently mitigate the risk of digital identity theft and misuse. moreIVA Members:

Directory Management Interoperability Lab
Integrate MAC, Linux, and Unix operating systems into Active Directory to centralize authentication and access control.Mixed enterprise environments represent a significant challenge to administrators, requiring increased IT personnel staffing to administer the heterogeneous systems. Identity and permissions administration within these environments represents one aspect of systems administration that presents unique challenges and security issues. moreIVA Members:

Systems Management Lab
With the increasing complexity of corporate and development work environments, the necessity of distributed networks and remote systems brings into focus the need for remote system management capabilities. These capabilities span multiple aspects of system operations and include load balancing, applications, network administration, database administration, and operating systems. moreIVA Members:
